All Change At Lanvin (Not On the Designer Front, Thank God!) by Emma

When I glimpsed a headline this morning mentioning big changes at Lanvin, my heart sank. I have not yet quite got over the leaving of Nicolas G from Balenciaga or Stefano P from YSL (ok SL, then!) and I read om with dread, expecting to hear some horrid news about Alber Elbaz. But no. Thank goodness it was news of managing director Thierry Andretta leaving. Now I am not downgrading what Andretta has done for Lanvin – his work on the label’s global expansion and brand growth is very much credit worthy. But I am just glad what I don’t have to deal with the departure of another great designer right now. Not strong enough for that yet.

Anyway (as if I need an excuse) here is a lovely video of Elbaz’s Fall 2013 collection. And breathe

If Our Garments Could Speak. No 5. Lanvin Spring 2012 Snake Dress by Emma

Hey! What! Please….don’t back away. I won’t bite.

Look, I know we serpents don’t have the best reputation – what with the whole Garden of Eden thing, that shifty so-and-so Kaa in The Jungle Book and those crazy tearaways on that plane – but we are not all like that. Some of us have a seriously soft, silky, strictly non-venomous side too.

Just give me a chance and I am sure we’ll be the best of friendsssssssssss. After all, I only want to give you a little squeeze…………
