An Alaia dress nestles on our rails, looking so elegant, clean and pure. A classic shape, made from heavy white viscose with intermittent intricate cobweb strips, it looks as fresh as the day it was made. But this is no ordinary dress; once owned by the eternally chic Daphne Guinness, this is a dress with a past. You can imagine Daphne slipping into its beautiful bell shaped skirt and fitted bodice, adding a pair of her signature towering Alexander McQueen heels and heading out to a super glamorous fashion event.
With a piece once owned by such an iconically stylish woman you cannot help but wonder at the stories concealed within its fabric. You begin to imagine who she may have met when wearing it; who she spoke to or danced with; wondering where she herself bought it and how much she may have loved it, how it made her feel to wear it.
Bought in auction at Christie’s, for its winning bidder this history provided just just such excitement, a wonderment about its past journeys. And does that not make it more precious and unique feeling than a similar dress plucked off the rack at a boutique?
Our third visitor in our ‘Blogger Dress Up’ series was the adorable Millie from it’saLDNthing. We met Millie at The Aptmt during LFW when she tried on one of our amazing McQueen jackets (it was one of our favourite pictures from the day) and we were so pleased when she popped in and see us.
But unfortunately our heating was being a little temperamental that morning and we could not let poor Millie dress up in almost sub zero temperatures. So instead she had a good look around the treasures in our store room and styled some outfits for us.
Millie styled up some fab laid back looks. And we are pretty sure those Wang track pants have her name written all over them.
Second up in our ‘Blogger Dress Up’ series is the absolutely gorgeous Ella from La Petite Anglais. Here at Style Sequel we have long been a fan of Ella and her perfect Gallic inspired (a result of her days interning in Paris we are sure) but distinctly British style. We knew this one was going to be a treat and it was. This picture alone could be a magazine cover shot.
Not only was Ella the sweetest lady she also had an impeccable eye of an outfit and looked gorgeous in everything (yes we were just a little jealous). So without further ado here is what Ella wore. And she even snapped up the Marant shoes – you have to be quick around here
